Remote Compatibility & Free Upgrade
Why an upgrade is needed
As part of our commitment to continuous product improvement, reliability, and safety, we are releasing an over-the-air (OTA) firmware update for our EB2 and VM1 brake controllers. This important update introduces enhancements to the wireless communication framework.
As a result of this update to EB2 and VM1 brake controllers, existing EBR remotes will no longer be compatible. To ensure a seamless transition, we are offering an upgraded ‘V3’ remote to every EB2 and VM1 owner with an older Elecbrakes remote via an exchange process - 100% free of charge, with all shipping costs covered by Elecbrakes. Looking after our customers is our top priority, and we are committed to keeping this process simple and seamless.
Already have a V3 remote? You’re all set.
The V3 remote is fully compatible with the latest EB2 and VM1 firmware. If you already have a V3 remote, there is nothing you need to do. Your brake controller updates are managed separately. Rest assured, the process is simple - the Elecbrakes app will automatically check for firmware updates as soon as you connect to your EB2 or VM1 brake controller and guide you through the setup.
How to tell which remote you have
Checking what version you have of the remote is easy. Simply hold your remote next to the visual comparison to make these two visual checks:
- Sticker: Look for a sticker on the back of the remote.
- Remote Screen: Watch the screen for a moment when you first power up the remote.
